Dear Derlin Jaime: Hello Derlin I hope you are enjoying Summer. I am writing to give an advice referring to your academic work. Have you ever asked yourself what an opportunity cost is? or what kind of consequences you can face now as in the future? I would like you to know this is; as a result, you would make better choices. To begin with, an opportunity cost is what you give up in order to do something else. For Example, in your academic work you need to pay attention in class while the professor is giving a lesson. If you choose not to listen, then your opportunity cost will be to not understand the topic and assessment assigned to do. Also, Derlin you need to start doing your homework at home, instead of going to chipotle, mall after school with your friends. Lastly, you will have test in your classes and if you maintain this behavior you will fail them. My advice to you is that you need to pay attention and follow directions to be a responsible student. Therefore, your professor would like you a lot and would be proud of you. In addition, you might be thinking that you are going to change after high school and have a great future going to university, but your opportunity cost could be not graduating from high school neither attending university because you choose to play and have fun in school. Another consequence is obtain a job in McDonald's because you lack a degree. Continuously, you won't be able to buy your dream car because you cannot pay afford it. In conclusion, choosing to play in classes and not taking serious your academic work would lead you to have a poor life and a job that you do not like. You must be responsible and challenge yourself in school every day by obtaining the best grades in any assessment or test. This would guide you to success. Sincerely, Yeimy Orellana |
